Don't Wait: Your Holiday Signage Deadline Is Closer Than You Think

It's early October. The pumpkins are out, the mornings are finally cool, and your holiday signage probably hasn't crossed your mind yet. We get it. But here's the thing every business owner learns the hard way at least once: the best time to order holiday signage is weeks before you feel the pinch. By the time you're feeling it, everyone else is feeling it too.

The Calendar Is Working Against You

Look at how the next two months stack up:

  1. November 1 - Daylight saving ends. It gets dark before the evening rush hour ends, and your storefront suddenly goes invisible hours earlier than it did all summer.
  2. November 27 - Black Friday.
  3. November 28 - Small Business Saturday. Even if your doors aren't open that day, your customers are out and about. The signage in your windows keeps working for you long after you've locked up.
  4. December - Holiday parties, gift season, extended hours, and foot traffic that won't quit until the New Year.

Every one of those dates is a moment when your signage either works for you or quietly doesn't exist.

Why Sign Shops Get Backed Up in Q4

A common rule of thumb in the sign industry is to allow four to six weeks for standard custom signage. Some projects like illuminated signs, monument signs, or anything with custom fabrication; take even longer once you factor in design, proofing, production, and installation scheduling.

Now layer on the Q4 effect: every retailer, restaurant, church, and nonprofit in the CSRA is ordering banners, window graphics, and seasonal displays during the same six-week window. Queue times stretch. The business that ordered in October gets the calm, careful treatment; while the one that calls on December 12 is hoping for a miracle.

A Simple Order-By Timeline

Here's the schedule we'd suggest for Augusta businesses:

  • Early October (now): Lock in design decisions and place orders for anything permanent or fabricated: illuminated signs, dimensional letters, monument or building signage updates, vehicle wraps.
  • Early November: Order banners. These turn around faster, but November production slots fill fast.
  • Thanksgiving week and later: We'll still help however we can, but selection narrows and timelines tighten. Plan for rush scenarios, not smooth ones.

What to Order First (Longest Lead Time Goes First)

Not all signage is created equal when it comes to turnaround:

  1. Illuminated and cabinet signs - fabricated, often wired, and worth ordering first.
  2. Vehicle wraps and fleet graphics - design and installation time add up.
  3. Dimensional letters and architectural signage - custom fabrication takes craft time.
  4. Banners, A-frames, and yard signs - the workhorses of holiday promos, and much quicker.

If you're not sure where your project falls on that list, that's exactly what we're here for. Request a free estimate and we'll walk you through realistic timing for what you have in mind.

Don't Forget the People on Your List

Holiday signage gets customers in the door, but branded gifts and apparel are what they carry out the door. Our 2026 Holiday Apparel Catalog is a 46-page collection of premium branded apparel, custom gifts, and team gear - and just like signage, the popular items and sizes go first. Employee gifts, client thank-yous, and team gear all have the same rule: order early, breathe easy later.
